🌼 The Calm Corner
A regular check-in for our anxious girls group and their parent/carers
Edition #6 - September 2025
Hey wonderful ones 💛
Welcome back to The Calm Corner! After a well-earned summer break, it’s been so lovely to return to group and see all your familiar faces and meet some new ones too. As always, this space is for both our amazing girls and their parent/carers, offering a little peek into what we’ve been up to, what’s coming up, and all the lovely moments in between.
September has been full of creativity, gentle progress, and a few exciting changes based on your feedback…
🌟 Group Highlights
🛠 Craft Sessions – With a Few Helpful Tweaks!
Thanks to feedback from our girls and input from our wonderful volunteer team, we’ve made some small changes to make craft time even better:
Optional name stickers for anyone who wants to wear one (no pressure at all!)
Clear, step-by-step instructions for each activity - so you can go at your own pace
A new Free Craft Table with donated and leftover supplies - perfect for spontaneous creativity!
🎨 September Crafts
The girls got hands-on with:
Decoupage heart boxes (so pretty!)
Fidget keyrings (a big hit!)
And of course... slime - a crowd favourite with the girls, even if the parents weren’t quite as thrilled 😄
🌍 A Special Craft with a Purpose
One of the most loved activities this month came from Ella, who is fundraising for a conservation trip to Tanzania in 2026. She created a “make your own fidget lanyard” station, which was adored by girls and parents! If you’d like to support her journey, you can check out her page here:
🏅 Nominate Liberty Circle for an Award!
We’ve been nominated for an award - and you can help us get there! If you believe in what we’re doing, we’d be so grateful if you took a moment to vote or share the link:
👑 Tea at the Mayor’s Parlour
A few of us were invited to the Mayor’s Parlour this month for a special visit - and some powerful conversations. The Mayor was genuinely interested in the work we’re doing and has even asked to visit our cooking group soon. We’re really looking forward to welcoming her and sharing more about the girls’ journeys.
👩🍳 Cooking Group Update
Our cooking sessions are going amazingly well. The girls began the term feeling quite anxious, but they’ve already started helping each other, encouraging new friends, and even playing games when they finish early.
This group is fully funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, which means families can access it completely free of charge - we’re so grateful to be able to offer this opportunity without cost to families.
We’ll be opening up a few new places for next half term - if you’re interested in your daughter joining, please email us directly to register your interest.
Watching the girls blossom in the kitchen continues to be one of our favourite parts of the week. 💛
🌼 Kind Reminder
Progress looks different for everyone. Whether you’ve taken a big step or just managed to show up - you’re doing so well. Be gentle with yourself.
💬 Thought of the Month
"You don’t have to do it all. Just do what you can - and that’s more than enough."
Little steps. Deep breaths. You’re doing great.
📍 Next Sessions
We’re back every Monday and Wednesday!
Session bookings are live on the website - please try to book early so we can plan and support everyone properly. And if you're interested in cooking group next half term, email us to ask about available places.
Just bring yourself - as you are. You belong here. 💛
